Where I tumble…

musicbones:

Happy 420, America.

I sort of forgot that I had this Tumblr until I got a notification last night.  Figured now was as good a time as any to introduce you all to the Tumblr where I tumble most often. A project that I lovingly dubbed Music Bones and Shitty Demos. Video above comes from the about page over there.

I’m no music aficionado.  I’m the child of immigrants so I grew up listening to Ethiopian songs I couldn’t really understand as well as to top 40 hits on the radio.  That and Etta James.  I’ve always loved her.

A year ago I discovered that music was a thing that I could probably do. I sucked very badly but over the last year and some change I’ve put a lot of time into getting better, a process that I will perpetually be in the midst of.

I’ve always loved music and I’ve always been in awe of the process of making music.  Partaking in that process is fucking wild and I have a lot to learn.  So in addition to working on my own material and chronicling the evolution of that— I’m also taking the time to study what already exists.   From lesser known bad asses like Beverly Guitar Watkins, The Band, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and Harry Nilsson to better known bad asses like Nancy Sinatra, Pink Floyd, The Allman Brothers and even Jimi Hendrix who I’m only starting to discover in any real sort of way.

It’s a big ol’ messy adventure - if you want to follow along, it’s where I’ll be doing most of my tumbling.

Stronger.

Stronger.

We are young.

We are young.

Go outside.

Go outside.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INANIMATE OBJECT?

My guitar- even though she’s got a soul of her own.
